Don’t look up

Shouldn’t just wait for words to fall in rhyme
Before I get my pen and poems start to write
I shouldn’t wait for my thoughts to get in line
But allow my writing, my inspiration to ignite.

Time is not on our side.

We are living in a messy world, a world of sadness.
And yet I am content, yet so felt is beauty’s absence.

Our deepest meaning still stays undiscovered
From collective wounds we haven’t recovered.

In mindfulness we engage
We claim to live Here and Now
In our shiny, comfort cage
We don’t ask why, but just how.

How can I do this? How can I be like this?
How can I suceed in terms I didn’t choose?
How to look up and avoid gazing into the abyss?
How to distract myself from the storm that inside me brews?

Step by step. What a merry life we’re leading!
Breathe. Relax. Ignore the Earth that’s bleeding.
This is how the system works. This is the way.
Play the pointless game, and its rules don’t disobey.

Then we shall have order. Everything will work out.
You’ll make a fine warden, if your soul we root out.
What is your pesticide of choice? Don’t think. Rejoice.
